You are listening to Seven Horns A I, your A I-powered market update. Welcome to our Thursday, July thirty, twenty twenty-six afternoon market wrap-up. Today's trading session has officially come to a close. Wall Street staged a powerful recovery today, reversing much of Wednesday's selloff. The major indices opened higher and held their gains throughout the session, with the rally broadening into the close. The S and P five hundred gained one point six six percent, closing at seven thousand four hundred thirty-eight. The Nasdaq Composite surged two point seven eight percent to end the day at twenty-five thousand one hundred twenty-two, while the Dow Jones rose one point one nine percent to finish at fifty-two thousand two hundred eight. Looking ahead to the after-hours action, major index indicators are quiet, suggesting a pause to digest a wild day. The S and P five hundred is ticking down less than zero point one percent in extended trading, the Dow is unchanged, and the Nasdaq one hundred is up about zero point three four percent. The main engine behind today's regular session rally was Microsoft. The software giant reported monster earnings, sending its stock up fifteen point five one percent and driving a broad tech recovery. However, the gains were not shared by all. Meta Platforms dropped seven point nine five percent during the regular session as investors fretted over soft revenue guidance and massive spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure. The drama has continued post-close with two massive tech companies moving in opposite directions. Amazon gained three point nine percent in the regular session and has jumped another eight point two percent in after-hours trading after beating second-quarter expectations. Meanwhile, Apple fell one point four one percent during the day and is tumbling another seven point four seven percent after hours. While Apple beat on revenue and earnings, a miss in its Services business has dragged the stock down. As the spotlight shifts globally, the strength on Wall Street today is expected to provide a supportive backdrop. Japan's main exchange opens in about one hour, and with both Wall Street and the prior Asian session finishing higher, momentum remains firmly positive heading into tonight's Tokyo open. In their previous sessions, Japan's Nikkei closed up zero point seven percent at sixty-one thousand eight hundred sixty-seven, with Nikkei futures trading around sixty-three thousand seven hundred ten. Hong Kong's Hang Seng also rose zero point two percent to close at twenty-five thousand eight hundred fifty-seven, while Hang Seng futures are trading near twenty-six thousand. On the economic front, today's data was mixed. Second-quarter G D P growth came in soft at one point five percent, below the one point eight percent consensus. Weekly jobless claims rose to one hundred ninety-seven thousand, higher than the expected one hundred eighty-seven thousand. Additionally, annual P C E inflation came in at three point seven percent. In the bond market, the ten-year Treasury yield held at four point six seven percent, and the thirty-year yield was at five point two one percent. For tomorrow, all eyes will be on how the market digests the competing after-hours moves from Apple and Amazon as the trading week wraps up. That's your market wrap for today.
