You are listening to Seven Horns A I — your A I powered market update. Hello and welcome to our market wrap-up for Thursday, August sixth, twenty twenty-six. Wall Street saw a mixed and quiet session today, snapping four-day winning streaks for both the S and P five hundred and the Nasdaq Composite. The S and P five hundred edged down zero point one six percent, closing at seventy-seven hundred eleven, while the Nasdaq was nearly unchanged, slipping just zero point zero six percent to finish at twenty-six thousand three hundred forty-eight. The Dow Jones Industrial Average faced the heaviest pressure, falling zero point eight five percent to close at fifty-three thousand eight hundred eighty-five, giving back some ground after yesterday's record close. Intraday, the major indices traded within a tight range, with the S and P five hundred peaking briefly above seventy-seven hundred forty before drifting lower. In after-hours trading, index exchange-traded funds are essentially flat, with the S and P five hundred fund ticking down less than a tenth of a percent, suggesting a quiet overnight session ahead. In the megacap space, Microsoft was the standout performer, gaining two point five percent. On the flip side, Google was the primary laggard, slipping one point three percent, while other major tech giants finished little changed. The real drama today took place in earnings-driven names. In semiconductors, SiTime surged twenty-six point six percent and MACOM Technology jumped fourteen point five percent. However, software and advertising firms took a heavy beating. AppLovin plummeted nineteen point seven percent on a revenue miss, while Datadog dropped nineteen percent despite beating earnings estimates. Axon Enterprise also fell sharply, losing fourteen point three percent due to gross margin compression. Looking globally, Asian markets finished lower in their previous session, with Tokyo's Nikkei down roughly one percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng off one point five percent. With both Wall Street and the prior Asian session finishing lower today, momentum remains heavy heading into tonight's Tokyo open. However, Japan's proxy exchange-traded fund is ticking up about a third of a percent in extended trading, suggesting some potential for stabilization as the region opens. On the macro front, oil was the dominant story. West Texas Intermediate crude surged three point five percent to around seventy-seven dollars a barrel, and Brent crude jumped over four percent on escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. These rising energy costs weighed on the industrial-heavy Dow today and will remain a key focus for investors tomorrow. That's your market wrap for today. This has been a Seven Horns A I production.
