SPY Agreement
A confidence filter that checks whether the AI's prediction for SPY (the S&P 500 ETF) points the same way as the clustering signal.
The SPY Agreement is a technical confidence filter used in quantitative market analysis to cross-reference a primary clustering signal with the directional prediction of the SPY (the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust). In this analytical framework, SPY is excluded from the curated large-cap stock universe that generates the headline market signals. Instead, SPY's directional prediction is calculated independently and compared to the broader clustering signal to determine if they point in the same direction. When the system generates an "UP" or "DOWN" clustering signal, it checks the SPY prediction. If both point the same way, the status is marked as "Agree"; if they point in opposite directions, it is marked as "Disagree" (neutral days are marked as N/A). Furthermore, if SPY agrees and its own prediction confidence meets or exceeds a specific threshold (typically 58%), the system displays the historical win rate of the clustering signal specifically on days when SPY agreed. Historically, this filtered win rate has been notably higher than the baseline, unconditional win rate. Investors use the SPY Agreement as a validation tool to assess the strength and reliability of a market signal. It is important to understand that SPY Agreement is not an independent trading signal on its own; rather, it acts as a secondary filter. A high-confidence agreement suggests broad market alignment, whereas a disagreement or low-confidence reading serves as a warning that the broader market index may not be supporting the underlying trend of the curated stock universe.
The system generates a '1 SD UP' clustering signal for the curated large-cap universe. Separately, the independent model for SPY predicts an upward movement with a confidence level of 61%. Because both the primary signal and the SPY prediction are positive, and the SPY confidence of 61% exceeds the 58% threshold, the system confirms 'SPY Agreement' and displays the historical win rate for this specific setup (which historically rises from a baseline of 63% to 81% under agreement conditions).
